A vector portrait created in Illustrator using bold but simple colour to add to the minimalist striking nature of the piece.  It was inspired by french artist Malika Favre who pioneers in defiant art often using women of authority as her subjects.

As predominantly an illustrator I decided to vary my style and create a more graphic piece, incorporating vintage and my own photography and various colour altering techniques.  The successful nature of the work is mainly due to the large amount of negative space and the way in which this allows the artwork to breath, drawing the eye across all of its' detail.

A modern take on a watercolour painting showcasing traditional ability with the paintbrush.  The finer details were added using paint markers for precision. This style of creation is what inspired me to originally become encompassed within the art and design world and dedicate my professional life to illustration in all its' forms.

The brief was to design and create a child's toy and the packaging that would hold it.  This net shows the overview of my packaging design for this eerie plaything.  It was created in Photoshop and textures added from photographs.

A Photoshop created character sheet showing details of "Ailec", it follows on the darker aesthetic of the packaging to create continuity between the pieces.
A minimal piece of observational work from original photographs created as a gift.  The initial sketch was hand generated but then taken into Photoshop to add quirky pastel colours to reflect the receiver's personality.

This card design was to fulfil a Stoke-on-Trent inspired brief.  It incorporates watercolour texturing, photography and simple line-work.  It was stocked in a local giftware shop.

This is a personal card design, inspired by traditional British celebrations.  It was entirely created in Photoshop using various brushes and photographed textures.

Inspired by current news surrounding the late Freddie Mercury, the clip of an article shows the story of the asteroid.  Narrative image making was the key to this project, the ability to tell a story in the absence of words is a fascinating concept to me.  Again, the work was created in Photoshop, the canvas size inspired by the dimensions of an original LP vinyl album and finally the preparation included creating a photo collage to mock the layout of the final work.

Inspired by my love of vintage lifestyle and fashion, I created an originally hand generated sketch to take into Photoshop and develop, adding wallpaper texture to the background.  The gift card design was stocked in a local shop.

A tribute to my grandfather incorporating and inspired by his many passions.  It features my own photography of his jazz records and lyrics from an infamous football chant. Mixed media played a large role in this work as I wanted to explore further creative opportunity beyond the screen.  Machine sewing created the portrait itself, adding another textured element.

The Brief was from a local company to display an aspect of the web design process.  This work I intended to be bright as if to represent the creative spark that runs throughout the web creation and design method.  Created through pencil sketch and developed into a Photoshop piece to allow digital viewing for the company..

This developmental work is from my own take on "A Clockwork Orange" opening title sequence.  Many techniques have been used here including traditional drawing, linework using makeup, sewing and digital collage.  Annotation and research was independently written and developed.

"Do we lose our humanity if we are deprived of the choice between good and evil? Do we become, as the title suggests, A Clockwork Orange?"- Stanley Kubrick
The final opening titles for "A Clockwork Orange", inspired by the suffering, abuse and sexualisation of the female form throughout the 1970's cult classic.  Created using entirely independent photography and textures, sketching and Photoshop work.

A brief look into my personality using the contents of my own handbag, the illustration is hand generated using stippling with pens.  I then took it into Photoshop to add the colouring.

This piece is a combination of local photography and digital illustration to create an animal-human villain.  The intention of this character was to create a slightly sneaky figure without compromising a younger audience.  The muted colour palette allows the creation of a villain but without a too sinister atmosphere.

Having always been interested in the art of caricatures, I incorporated this technique in another narrative image project, inspired by news.  The included article again adds context to the work, stating that former US president Bill Clinton referred to himself as a Robin Hood character.  All quotes were researched and accurate to those who made the statements.  Initial sketches were hand generated and scanned into Photoshop to create the final outcome.
