Glasgow maps for Denise Mina's "The Long Drop"

The publisher Random House commissioned me to create two maps of Glasgow for the endpapers of the new novel 'The Long Drop' by Denise Mina, which is set in the Scottish city in the late 1950s.

The first map was drawn to appear in an authentically 1950s period style, and the second in an updated, modern 21st century style. Both maps cover precisely the same area of the city, accurately portraying the geography of the city as it appeared then and now. Locations that feature in the story are highlighted in red.

This public transport map of Glasgow (c.1950s) served as one of the inspirations for the first map's colour scheme and typography.
