SEVEN LIVELY SINS

Seven Lively Sins
2015 Tsinghua University Architecture Gala Night Presentation by A11 Class

This experimental film is a depiction of a journey about self-exploration beyond graduation.
The film includes four major parts:
A. Losing Memory, B. Virtual Treatment, C. Discovering Selfness and D. Reality.

At first stage protagonist who is losing memory is the reflection of us losing ideal in exploitative reality.
In the film he is later undergoing several treatments through virtual scenes regarding of natural desires of mankind, in which it is inspired by Seven Deadly Sins, including sloth, lust, greed, wrath, envy, pride and gluttony.
After that he is exposed himself in the emptiness, where he is going back to origin and discovering himself gradually in this lonely journey.
Next, in the returning to reality, several images from larger scale (topography) to smaller scale (urban) that reflected on the demolition and degradation due to human desires are flashing on the screen. It acts as a prognosis of our future, meanwhile as a alert to every of us.

This film is paying tribute to Jodorowsky's works which is filled with surreal imaginations
and a hybrid blend of mysticism and religious provocation.
Hence, metaphor becomes the main strategy in the expression of film.
Architecture typology and elements that could found from ancient myths to real objects are studied meticulously and applied as metaphor elements.
