When arriving to Hamburg in 2015 I started to develop a new sketchbook, which over time transform in a new Bestiary with creatures from my imagination. The idea of creating this BESTIARY comes in play with no premeditation, it comes just from the imaginary creatures that began to appear displayed in the first white pages of my sketchbook that caught my attention, and in response to them I chose to create a bestiary focusing my attention on bringing new forms from my mind as if was the task of discovering of a biologist who dedicates his time to describe the new species he found in his travelings to unknown magical lands; species that are reported by means of lines and writings. Thus, trying to be a traveler to my inner world, I began again to rediscover the habitat of my own imagination and fantasy once again. To create the works in the images first I started to draw each new creature in pencil guided by my instincts and particular aesthetic mindset, and then I gave them a name, which is written in calligraphic design with brushes and watercolors. Finally, I positioning myself as a biologist, I make an annotation or basic description of the discovery of a new species during a long journey to new lands. Read Less

When arriving to Hamburg in 2015 I started a new sketchbook, which over time transform in a new Bestiary full of creatures from my imagination.

The idea of creating this BESTIARY comes in play with no premeditation, it comes just from the imaginary creatures that began to appear displayed in the first white pages of my sketchbook, and that caught my attention, and in response to them I chose to create a bestiary focusing my attention on bringing new forms from my mind as if it was the discovering task of a biologist who dedicates his time to describe and draw the new species he found in his travelings to unknown magical lands. Thus, trying to be a traveler to my inner world, I began again to rediscover the habitat of my own imagination and fantasy once again.

To create the works in the images I started fist drawing each new creature in pencil guided by my instincts and particular aesthetic mindset, and then I gave them a name, which is written down in calligraphic lettering design with brushes and watercolors. Finally, I positioning myself as a biologist, and I make annotations or basic description of the discovery of new species in a long journey to magic lands.

This sketchbook is showing the raw material for the project: THE BLACK BOOK PROJECT
