mAthe - Náusea (Official Music Video)
Official music video for “Náusea” by mAthe, from the album Yayoi.
I was contacted by mAthe with the idea of bringing one of his latests Singles to life. When I heard the song and saw the artwork I immediately knew that I wanted to create a never ending tunnel using the original elements from the design. I wanted to tell a character-less story in which the tunnel’s progression is the sole protagonist, where the visuals escort the song throughout it’s progression culminating in a electronic color bath.

Breakdown
Album artwork (left) and single artwork (right)
I really like the idea of having an album artwork for the album and a dedicated one for a single. The fact that they are both completely different all while belonging to the same visual universe made me want to integrate them into the video itself. I used the idea of the album cover as a constant tunnel
Song analysis
Song analysis played a very important part of the process. I did this early on and it really helped me decipher and visualize the song. I marked 3 important spots: intro ends, first tunnel and second tunnel.

Video elements
Below are all of the different elements that make up the video.
The first thing that popped into my mind was "I have the idea for the video, now, how do I generate 4:00 minutes of content without it getting boring &/or repetitive?"
I found a way around this problem by constructing different elements that can be stacked on top of each other to generate transitions to other elements or new ones altogether.
Thanks!
