Physical and digital forms of currency continue to be repurposed, from the expiry of pounds and shillings in the 60s to the introduction of ATMs in the 80s. But digital currency is developing even more quickly – and many argue that the redundancy of cash is a question of not if, but when. Does it all sound a little confusing? I was recently commissioned alongside animator Savva Tsekmes to storyboard and illustrate a new campaign for ING Direct in conjunction with the Guardian. Once as a script had been established I drafted storyboards, which were then timed out into an animatic. Once as the timing was correct, we had the voiceover read and I began creating the assets. As the assets were finalised they were then animated.
