FILM ENVIRONMENT EXPERIMENT

In an ongoing effort to learn and combine tools and create the look of film using computer software, I chose to make a foggy tropical morning environment.

For this frame, I used a C4D terrain object for the mountain profile. Using XParticles and Arnold I was able to instance multiple Laubwerk plant and tree models over the terrain. The leaf colors were varied across the scene using particle ID as an index for alJitter.

The fog was made in Houdini and brought into C4D through Arnold's vdb loader.

Compo was handled in Nuke - color corrections, PG Bokeh for longitudinal chromatic aberration, godray node(R & B channel seperately) for transverse chromatic aberration, K_NaturalGlow for inverse square blooming, scanned grain with KODAK 5245 50% grey scans.

Arnold render time: ~ 16 minutes @ 2048x856 on 2x Xeon 2687v3
