Save the Bees
Infographic Design
During my Communication Design 3 class this past semester, I had the chance to create my own project. This is when I decided I wanted to make something that was impactful.

My Process
Fossil fuels and the environment play a huge role into our future. Eventually, we will run out of gas and we will have to find alternative sources for driving and much more. When we continue to destroy the land for more shopping centers and housing, we are killing our environment. We just let animals go extinct, what will happen when the bees go extinct? According to the Global Research article on Death and Extinction of the Bees by Joachim Hagopian[1], “Since 2006, beekeepers have been noticing their honeybee populations have been dying off at increasingly rapid rates.”

Bees are one of the foundations of nature and life. How are we going to survive without nature? Increasing interest and awareness of the bee population will be great for humanity but when will we start caring? Will we wait until there are only a few bees left to live? It Is time that we stop ignoring and started caring. This is the moment that I realized that to make a difference I need to create an infographic on saving the Bees. To make the infographic, I did a lot a research and wrote a 2-page essay on saving the honey bee's and saving the environment in general.

Sketch & Design
For sketching, I began to draw different bees and icons I could throughout the infographic. I drew bee hives, honey jars, bees, hexagons, and honey jar labels. This is where I got all my inspiration for the imagery in my graphic. After sketching, I took my icons into Adobe Illustrator and started to develop my color palette. Decided on yellows, orange-reds and some brown shades. After designing my icons, I decided to look at my research and see which information worked best with the graphic. Overall, I am very proud of my type choices and the icons I created to help Save the Bees.

Now, make sure you reduce your pesticide use, have a plant, buy local foods and donate to the cause!
