“Dark energy is making the universe expand faster and faster and is spreading out the matter in it ever more thinly. Eventually, all that will be left is empty space. Inflation might then produce many more universes in said empty space. The implication is that our world is one of many– a Multiverse – produced in a previous phase of a process called eternal inflation, to which there is no beginning and no end.”
