Statlab needed a clean and simple website outlining their many big-data related competences and services for potential clients. They already had a very basic brand in place, defined by a strong deep tone of red and condensed type—a simple, solid foundation to build upon.

I created a set of animated illustrations to complement the brief paragraphs on different methods of data analysis and hint at various ways Statlab can visualise data.

All SVG illustrations that are animated are using SMIL. There was no particular reason for choosing SMIL over CSS or JS to animate. Browser support for it is decent (with the exception of IE) and simple animations like that are fairly easy to produce. And since I was already up to my elbows in SVG, SMIL looked interesting and natural. SMIL seems to be on it's way out though, so someday I'll probably have to redo these animations using something else.
