‘Landscape: Reconstruction’, handmade digital image, 50x50 cm.
Different views of the already seen landscape are interwoven bringing into the fore new narratives. A persistence on what has already been seen, on what the memory persists to connect in a continuous process of re-construction with what I am seeing now . The handmade digital image consists a denial of the ‘frozen’ image that is produced by the photographic and then the digital medium and especially a pursuit for the lost naturalness / materiality through its very existence as an image. For what has been seen has never been actually seen.

In an era where, according to the art historian Hal Foster, culture industry produces historical amnesia as a condition of a continuous and renewing consumption within a voracious mechanism that lacks the ability to remember and to meditate historically,
12 artists, are invited to explore –by using a variety of medium- the work of art as a means of recording everyday life and of memory reconstruction, as well as to comment on the mechanistic storage and consumption of the image. Posing possibly the following questions: How the ephemeral converses or collides with the mechanistic, or with the one that is signified in order to retain temporal continuity? What form the process of giving meaning and recording can take in art? The act of entitling a work of art, a feeling or an image?
A group exhibition for the artistic practice as an investigation and exploration of the different versions of recording, preserving but also of mechanistic accumulation; for the art as a vehicle of temporal continuity / discontinuity but also of preservation of everyday reality.
