PEAL is a husband and wife collaborative line of shaker-inspired chairs and stools. Bryan and Kelsey of Red Hook, Brooklyn have developed their furniture designs by being in "conversation" with the past and present. Peal refers to the reverberations of a church bell -- an echoing back and forth. 

I started with Bodoni, a classic typeface which The Shaker Manifesto of the early 1900s was set in, and modified the serifs to create a more modern look. This communication between antique and contemporary felt like a good reflection of the brand's roots. 

The square icon represents the hand-woven seat. Simple, utilitarian and honest just as Shaker style demands.
