This project explores the origins of several food dyes additives that was once of natural origin.

The International Numbering System for Food Additives (INS) is a European-based naming system for food additives that had full ingredient labelling since the mid-1980s. The long, unfamiliar names of additives on food package may appear as unhealthy chemical compounds. In fact, every food is build up of chemical compounds that determine flavour, colour, texture and nutrient value. Today, food and colour additives are more strictly studied, regulated and monitored than at any other time in history. Many of food additives from INS were once of natural origin, but modern technologies swiping up the borders between natural and synthetic and many of additives now are produced synthetically. Confusing index "E" on packaging is not easy, but necessary to understand.
