Black Women The Forbidden Fruit
This is a performance art piece about black women's bodies seen as forbidden yet an entity everyone craves. White people constantly wanting to devour the sweetness and darkness of the fruit that they will never be able to obtain. The dark pomegranate juice stains and soaks the white satin slip and sheet. The earthy smell and stickiness of the fruit covers my body as I perform the relationship with the pomegranate, my black women body and the audio. The audio is a mixture of white guys saying how they love black women and want to have sexual intercourse with them in a jokingly manor, a reading by Sojourner Truth "Ain't I A Women" and small excerpt from Malcolm X.
