Punta Cana: Dominican Republic Travel Poster
The project was to make a travel poster of a place we've been before. We had a couple ideas varying from New York City to Punta Cana. We decided that we wanted a place with a lot of bright colors and a big open sky to make the poster more enthralling. We also wanted the space to add text without taking away from the background. The photo from Punta Cana gave us all of these opportunities.

You won't believe what's in this collection: https://www.behance.net/collection/136918409/Travel
Thinking of what the poster would look like was a whole lot easier than making the poster. In our sketches and roughs, we made different designs for our logos which we thought would fit the beach and vacation style. We designed many beach related objects such as anchors, palm trees, sailboats, and even steering wheels. We finally decided on the anchor and tree combination for our final. We also referenced other summer posters for text placement and color adjustments.
After working hard on our first comp, it was very tempting to just choose that one and dismiss our other one. However, we ended up having a difficult time on which poster to pick. We liked the color scheme of our first ones and the layout of the second. We tried many variations of the two only to find that they don't look all that good together. We ended up going with the first one through helpful critique and went through many fonts to get it were it is now. We also had a tough time picking between our logos because they both looked really cool. We ended up going with the anchor and the palm trees because it was what most people noticed first when looking at our poster.

In our final image, we added the cutout filter to get the style we wanted and researched in other posters. This style adds a colorful environment while also looking professional and enthralling the viewer. Our logo was a big selling point in our comps, so we decided to keep it. To do this, we added a background overlay to different images we had and created this silhouettes. Overall, all of these components make the our location look like a nice, colorful, and fun vacation holiday.
