Animals in India have always enjoyed a ceremonial and religious status. They are often depicted alongside gods and goddesses in the hindu mythology as vahana or vehicles (meaning carrier) who carry the divine. In the modern day they are featured playing a lead role in processions and festivals proudly embellishing vibrant colours and jewellery.
The series is a tribute to some of the celebrated animals across India and their significance in some of the Indian traditions. A modern day take on their depiction in carrying forward the rich traditions.
