EMAP is an agro-industrial development initiative aiming at upgrading Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP) sector in Egypt by establishing an integrated quality and safety scheme, improving varieties, increasing productivity, reducing losses, and upgrading production and processing technologies. In this context, the project implements specialized programs for value addition and improving access to international markets. Starting in 2011 and for four successive years, EMAP is implemented by the Agriculture and Agro-Industries Technology Center (ATC) - Ministry for Industry and Foreign Trade in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The project is cofounded by the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Egyptian government.
