3D Printing Pens
3D printing also referred to as Additive Manufacturing (AM) is the process of making a three-dimensional solid object from a digital file. 3D printed object creativity is attained by using additive processes. In the synthesis of a three-dimensional object, successive layers of materials are added until an object is formed. Each of these layers can be seen as a thin slice of horizontal cross-sections of the object.

It begins with the making of a virtual design of the object to be created. Objects can be of almost any geometry (shape and size). These models are produced using digital model data from a 3D model or any other e-data source, for instance, an Additive Manufacturing File (AMF).

A 3D pen looks more or less like an ordinary pen or a pencil but is generally heavier than a normal pen or pencil. This pen unlike any other pen avoids the use of traditional lead or ink and operates using plastic.

Now you might be wondering how this pen works, is it difficult to use it or is it even a good thing. So, first of all, yes, using this pen is very similar to using a normal pen. You have to hold it in the same way. There are a lot of different ways of using these pens.

Working off a 3D printing pen:

As a 3D uses plastic instead of the traditional lead or ink, you can insert the plastic filament at one end inside, it uses the heating technology and gets heated. Inside it, the heat is strong enough which melts the plastic and turn it into a liquid. Once it is melted, you can use the pen to write. It works pretty much on almost all surfaces.
You may be wondering, what to do with a 3D pen, well the possibilities are limitless. Some of the applications of 3D printing pens include rapid prototyping, healthcare( 3D printed prosthetics), entertainment( Ex- movie props), reconstructing fossils in paleontology, in archaeology, in forensic pathology etc. You can make a 3D version of anything you come up with. Though these 3D printing pens are relatively new in the market, there are a lot many choices to choose from. But if you are new or inexperienced in this field, you might have to face some difficulties in finding the best 3D printing pen in the market.
