W ramach istniejących (starych) tradycji postanowiłem przypomnieć wszystkim głowom państw o ich ludzkim pochodzeniu. Skompletowałem adresy do włodarzy a następnie przesłałem im po jednej odbitce graficznej...
...ale po kolei.

Triumf (łac. Triumphus)
w antycznym Rzymie najwyższy zaszczyt, najczęściej przyznawany zwycięskim dowódcom armii.

Rozróżniano dwa rodzaje triumfów. Ważniejszy i bardziej prestiżowy był Wielki triumf „Triumphus curulis”. Wszyscy mieszkańcy Rzymu zbierali się aby oddać cześć zwycięzcy. Podczas wjazdu triumfalnego do miasta, wódz jechał na rydwanie mając za plecami niewolnika. Niewolnik miał dwa zadania. Pierwsze to trzymać nad głową Triumfatora złoty wieniec laurowy. Drugie zadanie polegało na ciągłym szeptaniu do ucha zwycięzcy „Hominem te memento” — „pamiętaj, że jesteś tylko człowiekiem”. Taka inkantacja, miała na celu przypomnienie wodzowi, że nie stał się bogiem, mimo odniesienia tak spektakularnej wiktorii, i że nadal jest tylko człowiekiem.

Postanowiłem przypomnieć obecnej światowej klasie rządzącej, tą starą prawdę, że są tylko ludźmi. Na formę przekazu wybrałem grafikę (sitodruk). Grafiki stworzyłem w limitowanym nakładzie, ręcznie sygnowanym — 270 szt.

Triumph (łac. Triumphus)
in ancient Rome it was the highest honor, most frequently awarded to the victorious military leaders.

There were two types of a triumph. The more important and more prestigious one was called The Great Triumph „Triumphus curulis”. All citizens of Rome would gather to honor the winner. During triumphant entering the city, the military leader was in a chariot with a slave behind his back. The slave had two tasks. First, to hold a golden laurel wrath above the head of the emperor. His second task was to continuously whisper into the victorious emperor’s ear the following words „Hominem te memento” — „Remember that you are only human”. The purpose of such incantation was to remind the leader that he had not become a god, no matter how spectacular his vicotry was, and that he still is merely a human.

I decided to remind this old thrut to the ruling class worldwide, namely to remind them that they are only humans. As a means of conveying the message I chose graphics (screen printing). The graphics came in limited, manually initialled edition and there are 270 pieces.

Pierwszym poważnym problemem, z którym się spotkałem było ustalenie ile jest państw. Nie wszystkie państwa są uznawane przez ONZ (lub inne państwa). Przyjąłem listę 203 państw z Wikipedii bez państw „kontrowersyjnych” w moim odczuciu. Kolejnym problemem było odpowiedzenie na pytanie „kto jest głową którego państwa?”. Po przeszukaniu zasobów internetu ustaliłem (z dużym prawdopodobieństwem) kto reprezentuje jakie państwo. Tu okazało się, że sprawa nie zawsze jest jednoznaczna (np. Królowa Elżbieta II pełni funkcję „głowy państwa” w 16 krajach). W takich przypadkach wybierałem kolejną postać w łańcuchu władzy, np. Gubernatora. Na końcu pozostało mi zdobycie adresów wybranych przedstawicieli Państw. Po długiej (nieudanej) próbie samodzielnego znalezienia adresów, postanowiłem sprawę zlecić specjalistom. Rozesłałem zapytania o koszt zebrania takiej bazy danych do specjalistycznych biur. Odpowiedziało większość firm, do których napisałem. Ceny wahały się za jeden adres od 1 do 100 zł. Ze względów finansowych wybrałem opcję za 1 zł. Firma wywiązała się świetnie z powierzonego zadania (nie znaleźli jedynie 3 adresów, które musiałem znaleźć samodzielnie).

The first serious problem with which I had to deal was to determine how many countries there are. Not all countries are recognised by the UN (or by other countries). Basing on Wikipedia I made a list of 203 countries, without so called „controversial” , to my way of thinking, countries. The next issue was to answer the guestion: „who is a ruler in a given country?”. After browsing the Internet data, I determined (with high probability) which person represents each country. It turned out that it is not always so obvious (e.g. Queen Elizabeth II serves as a ruler in 16 countries). In such cases, I chose the next person in the power chain e.g. the governor. Finally, all I had to do was to obtain the addresses to each country representative. After long-lasting attempt to do it by my own (it was unsuccesful), I decided to hand the task in to the specialists. I did some research concerning the costs of assembling such database to different specialist offices. Most of them answered. The price per one address fluctuated from 1 to 100 zł. Because of financial reasons, I chose the 1 zł option. The company fulfilled the task very well (they could not find only 3 addresses, which I found by myself).

Grafika Triumphus występuje w dwóch wersjach.

The graphics of Triumphus came in two versions.

Pierwszy nakład wykonałem technikami suchej igły oraz kaszerunku. Na wyzłoconą aplę (szlagmetal), naniesiona jest złota farba (z matrycy – sucha igła). Wymiary matrycy to 900 × 426 mm. Grafika wydrukowana jest na bibule japońskiej Kawashi, 66 × 99, 35 g/m². Grafiki wydrukowałem w nakładzie 20 szt. Prace są ręcznie sygnowane.

The first edition was made with drypoint techniques and coating. Golden paint was put (from matrix – drypoint) onto begilded uniform background (schlagmetal). The dimensions of the matrix are 900 × 426 mm. The graphics is printed on Japanese blotting paper Kawashi, 66 × 99, 35 g/m². The first edition had 20 pieces. Every piece was initialled manually.

Drugi nakład to reprodukcja pierwszej grafiki wykonana techniką sitodruku. Na złotą aplę (farba olejna) nadrukowałem liternictwo (złota farba sitodrukowa). Wymiary pracy to 300 × 142 mm. W tym projekcie również użyłem bibuły japońskiej Kawashi, 35 g/m². Jako, że technikę sitodruku znam nie najlepiej o pomoc poprosiłem Color Bag. Zajęli się sprawą kompleksowo, od pomocy w przygotowaniu klisz przez wyświecenie sit do druku. Wielkie podziękowania dla Color Bag i gorąco polecam współpracę z nimi www.color-bag.pl. Grafiki z tego nakładu (sitowego) przesłałem głowom państw. Grafiki wydrukowałem w nakładzie 270 szt. Prace są ręcznie sygnowane.

The second edition is a reproduction of the first graphic made with the screen printing technique. I printed the lettering (golden screen printing paint) onto golden uniform background. The dimensions of the work were 300 × 142 mm. I also used Japanese blotting paper Kawashi, 35 g/m². Because I am not an expert in the screen printing technique, I asked Color Bag for help. They dealt with the assignment comprehensively, from the help in preparation of plates, to polishing prints. I would like to wholeheartedly thank to Color Bag and truly recommend their services: www.color-bag.pl. The graphics from this edition were sent to the heads of listed countries. The second edition had 270 pieces. Every piece was initialled manually.

Cały projekt finansowałem z własnych środków, więc aby zmieścić się w budżecie, musiałem poszukać jak najtańszego sposobu dostarczenia prac. Najtańszą opcję znalazłem na poczcie, z tym zastrzeżeniem, że waga listu nie mogła przekraczać 50 g. Aby spełnić warunki wagowe, po paru próbach pakowania okazało się, że najlepiej nadają się do tego pianki do ocieplania rur (są lekkie, w miarę sztywne, i tanie). Na tą piankę nawijałem grafikę a następnie od góry pakunek zabezpieczyłem kartonem zaklejonym naklejką z adresem.

The whole project was financed with my own funds, therefore to fit into the budget, I had to look for the least expensive means of delivery of the works. The best offer was by the Post, under condition that the weight of a letter will not exceede 50 g. To fulfill the weight recomendation, after few attempts of packing, it turned out, that the best is foam for thermal insulation of pipes (they are light, relatively stiff and inexpensive). I rolled the graphic on the foam and then secured the package at the top, with cardboard sealed with a sticker with an address.
