Character Animation, Art and Cartoons!
and Motion Graphics, too!
THE SHORT FILM I'M WORKING ON
Samples:
Oh man, what are these two upset about?! When I finish my short film, you'll find out! ;)
Aww, what's baby upset about? Jeez, what *aren't* babies upset about?! Thanks to CloudConvert for a much easier transfer to GIF than what Photoshop would do (I think it really heightens the angst of this particular single mom :) ).
Workflow Example #1
Project Description: Dynamic Corporate Logo
FIRST DRAFT
Started with a basic keyboard typing effect.
NEXT DRAFT
Then softened it with letter fade ins...
LAST DRAFT
Final draft of the video. Full sci-fi effect with an ambient tone to finish it.
Workflow example #2
Project description: Opener for an educational series
FIRST DRAFT
First draft of composition showing the school front and concept of items representing curricula popping out of the windows, per client suggestions. Illustrator to After Effects, took 6 hours.

REVISIONS
Revision, took 6 more hours. I added items for science and music (curricula). I worked with the clients regarding pacing, other items to add to opening windows and the general look.

Third draft: added the school frame and atmosphere, music and room at the end for the logo.
LAST DRAFTS
Fourth draft - completely new direction! Per director move indoors and incorporate bouncy objects around a classroom setting. 3 hours to roughly sketch :) in Illustrator, two more hours in After Effects plus technical difficulties (6 year old Macbook Air).
Final draft after 45 minutes consulting with the clients' notes.

ART ANIMATION, AUDIO and WRITING
I did NOT do the art for this clip! I merely assembled the original Illustrator files so it had layers for character manipulation. (OK I did draw him limbs.)
Then I wrote the 3 scenes (based on a prompt: how would you sell a pet?), did the motion in After Effects, and recorded music in Audition on my guitar as well.
I hope you find the blurbs appropriately ridiculous :)
PROGRAMMING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
I have some expertise in things like Javascript, CSS and Python which are essential to automating and fine-tuning major animation, VFX and motion graphics software platforms. And enable me to do things like this. (Or go to mariocaiti.com/dev for my development stuff; that guy is framed under the .js category.)
