Center for Food Safety, an environmental non-profit in the U.S., tasked me with creating a teaching tool about the importance of native bees for food production. Rather than using close-up photos, which I suspected may frighten schoolchildren, I painted the bees to be semi-cartoonish to make them cute yet easily identifiable.

Part of this project involved shading and coloring scanned pencil drawings.

I initially struggled with drawing the bees' body hair, but over time achieved better results!
