The first two volumes of the Kosmos were published betweenthe years 1845 and 1847.The scope of this work may be described as therepresentation of the unity amidst the complexity of nature. The book waswritten for an educated audience and contains much contemporaneous scientificdata.Morin attempted to solve the longitude problem. In 1634, he proposed his solution, based on measuring absolute time bythe position of the Moon relative to the stars.
