Know What I Mean #5: Japan Part 1

A solitary slide sits in the middle of a padlocked area beneath the bypass in Kyoto, Japan. This was the slightly haunting view from my apartment in the city, though also a twice daily point of fascination for me. This is the night time, street-light edition.
Two ladies enjoy a selfie as several bystanders stop to stare in Gion, Kyoto, Japan. I cannot be sure that these are not real Geisha or Maiko, but the people I talked to in Japan assured me that the chances of seeing a real Geisha/Maiko are slim. Taking a selfie is extremely unlikely for genuine Geisha, I am assured!
Whilst the splendour of Japan's abundance of stunning shrines and temples is undoubted, I found myself taking in the activity nearby for hidden gems. The gentleman in the suit caught my eye at Asakusa Shrine, Tokyo, offsetting the historic beauty with his smart phone activity.
After a local recommendation, I relinquished a part of my soul in Musoshin, a ramen bar in Gion Kyoto. The food here was outrageously good and its no-nonsense decor and bustling atmosphere. The spices on offer were gorgeous, but I found myself slinking around the place with a camera just as much as I sat down to eat.
Crabs. Tenjinbashi-suji, Osaka, Japan.
Shinkansen man. Kyoto station, Japan.
