"La Dolce Vita” is a gourmet pastry shop in Santa Sofia, a small village in the Romagna region of Italy, which needed some help in renovating their brand and enchanting their audience. Alberto, the owner, is a very clever and passionate guy, always in the mood for experimenting and innovating. First of all we changed the name, because in Italy “La Dolce Vita” is also the popular Fellini movie title, and like any cliche, is often misused including in the pastry context. We needed a way to distinguish the brand from other generic competitors. The fact is that Santa Sofia village is nicknamed Santa by the locals, and so we decided to change the name to 'Santa Dolce Vita’ which in English translates as 'Saint Sweet Life.’ It immediately conveys a tender, soft and angelic feeling, and is perfect to express the sweetness of Santa's products. Yes, we also know that Santa refers also to Christmas and this is actually better because the pastry shop makes the finest sweet Christmas cakes in Romagna! Alberto also produces a small line of packaged sweets using his own flour from ancient grains with a traditional processing method. This work started 3 years ago, and today the pastry business continues to grow while Alberto holds great classes in the area to teach and share some recipes and tell his story. Thanks to the valuable pieces of advice about the rebranding from Nicole Poggi, a true compass in the sea of the possible. The photos are by Gianluca Naphtalina Camporesi, who interacted with Alberto and the Santa Dolce Vita products, making them playful and alive. Everything else is "farina del mio sacco"...
