Discovering Colombia
The cover of the book highlights the same handwriting and patterns used throughout.
When it came to the headers it made sense to make the type apart of the collage itself.  This book is about learning and making connections, why not demonstrate that in the design?
One  of the collages used to demonstrate all the topics to learn and explore when researching a culture.
To show my voice and perspective on this process parts of the book include my experiences and memories. In this particular spread, I used the writing as apart of a collage.
This is the back cover highlighting my favorite quote I found during research.  It was said to be an old Colombian saying, “God made Colombia so beautiful, so rich in natural resources and so spectacular in every way that it was unfair to the rest of the world.  So, God evened the score.  He populated Colombia with the most evil race of men.”
If you'd like to flip through the whole piece here is an issuu version. Thank you!
