Mother Earth Feels

This project, Mother Earth Feels, focuses on the impact that deforestation can have on our communities.

Without consciously knowing it, I have always practiced recycling and reducing water usage simply because my parents taught me to always reuse, recycle, and minimize my use of things that are not good for the Earth. I began exploring environmentalism with my artwork sometime during my art school years. I created artwork based around an internal guilt about being a careless American consumer after educating myself with articles and documentaries about environmentalism and the food industry.
With this series, I started out focusing on landfills and deforestation as well as the physical and emotional impact it has on humans. My focus with these ink paintings is to highlight these problems. Some of the pieces are more melancholy, however, I have also included hopeful images to show that doing small things can make a huge impact. I hope that putting this series out in the world will inspire people to dig more deeply into environmental news, as well as make small efforts to help reverse or minimize the damage human beings have done to this beautiful planet.
