I developed two custom apps to generate blindness-related illustrations for Galileu Magazine. The first traces images based on the writing system Braille, which uses a grid of 6 dots per character. It was used in a story about Shubham Banerjee, a 13-year old kid who created a Braille printer made of Lego.

The second app creates sonar-like images, and was inspired by Peter Saville’s cover for the Joy Division record Unknown Pleasures. It was used on a report about Intel’s new game gear for the blind.

The issue was awarded with a Silver Medal on The Society for News Design and a Merit on The Society of Publication Designers.

I coded the apps using Processing.
