VANBERLO / Ypenburg

A brand new studio for VanBerlo in the stylish 1930's former royal airport building of The Hague Ypenburg. The building's minimalistic architecture, originally designed by famous Dutch architects Brinkman and Van Der Vlugt, is complemented with iconic contemporary elements showcasing VanBerlo's products and processes. The result is an inspiring innovation-space mixing clean lines and an open-plan layout with honest materials such as concrete plywood and felt.

VanBerlo Ypenburg / Contemporary interior with minimalistic architecture.

Architecture / The building was completely restored to its former 1930's minimalistic glamour.

Entrance / Clean lines and an open floor plan using the grid of the windows to fit contemporary elements.

Studio / The aviation theme is visible in the details: striking yellow signage and re-used food trolleys to store brainstorm tools (KLM is one of VanBerlo's clients).

MANNA / The multifunctional café, lounge and workshop area gets is name from the food dropping during WWII code named: operation MANNA.

Lounge / A stylish yet informal lounge to trigger intuitive co-creation.

ILSY Meeting Room / Brainstorms were organised to get everybody’s ideas onto paper, which resulted in amazing features such as the Magic Wall that, paired with an app and motion detectors, turns from transparent to opaque (+ beamer).

Studio / Multidisciplinary teams sit together in a light and open workspace arranged to connect through every step of a project.

DIEPEN Board Room / This historic room, including the original fire place from the 1930's, pays tribute to Dutch aviation pioneer Frits Diepen.

Experience Lab / The dream of every designer a fully equipped lab in the basement of the studio featuring 3D printers, motion controlled prototypes and VR set-ups next to an old-school maker space.
