Nestaway Boats - Web Development
Consultancy / Development / Design / Testing / Bug Fixing
For this project I worked alongside a designer who had experience with WordPress but little technical knowledge, With the client they had decided on the platform, theme. The existing site had no way of purchasing products so the implementation of an E-Commerce platform, in the form of WooCommerce was a priority.
The site required styling and amendments to an existing framework and e-commerce plugin. The client had specific needs around it's store layout and content (the products having the extensive information) and customer email interactions.
DEVELOPMENT & TECHNICAL SUPPORT
The designer had little technical so I managed many aspects including:
• Managing the hosting; FTP, Plesk, phpMyAdmin.
• SSL certificates and integration of payment system
• Extensive 301 redirects for existing, well ranking, site.
• Integration of WooCommerce and multiple extensions.
• Testing, trouble shooting, bux-fixing
GOGGLE ANALYTICS REPORT
The work started with a report on their old site with recommendations for the site structure, information architecture, user interface, user experience, SEO and design elements and the design with an emphasise on E-commerce. I also provided a report on their Google Analytics data focusing on the user flow, sticking points with navigation and visitor demographics.
We managed the project using Trello as a ticketing system. As the designer encountered problems, had questions, found bugs or required styling changes they logged new tickets.
Due to the limited budget I also assisted the designer in their own learning and development by providing documentation and sign posting to other resources online.
In the first 10 months the site had made over £60,000 in sales and was well received by the sites user-base and business networks.
