GEMFIVE Raya Campaign 2016

GEMFIVE RAYA 2016 Campaign
The festival of Hari Raya is one of the biggest festivals in Malaysia. To celebrate the occasion we created a video showcasing how the e-commerce site GEMFIVE could enhance the quality of celebrations.

During this period, it is common for Malaysians to redecorate their houses or portions of it and buy gifts for loved ones. The client thus loved the idea of showing how consumers of all ages and genders could replace their old  possessions through the magic of GEMFIVE, even if hey had forgotten to do so until the eve of Raya.

Unfortunately though, cuts in the budget restricted us from a employing a production house. Spirits unhindered, a bunch of us from the agency set out to create the video, with minimal equipment, in-house talent and resources.

The result: Magika Raya - A video that garnered more than 470,000 views and 2,400 Likes on Facebook.

My role in the video:
Being the copywriter for the account, along side the art director Nikee Mahmud, I was responsible for the creative direction of the campaign, scripting the story line, and laying out the events. Though I was involved in the process of creating the song, owing to an inadequate grasp of the language, we had to rely on the beautiful skills of Hairi Hashim - a Malay copywriter and a good friend of mine for the lyrics. Further I was a part of the team that actually shot and edited the video, sometime taking the lead and sometimes playing the role of an assistant director.
Live Show - Live Chat + Performance (for only performance see next video).
1379 comments and 52 shares within a span of 25 mins. More than 49,000 views.
As a part of the celebration we also created a live show, where people could spot GEMFIVE and RAYA related phrases for a chance to win gift vouchers, while enjoying a brief but dynamic show.
