Face of real poverty
This is a community that lives on top one a refuse dump less than 5 km from the City Hall.
Despite promises by the current administration to close the dump and relocate to King William's Town, about 60km to the north the lack lustre response by the council has left these poor people with a health hazard that could completely destroy the community.
Even though the dump has now officially been closed – dumping still occurs.
THe families and individuals did volunteer their names but where willing to talk to me, their stories all regale hardship, disappointment and lack of hope.
