Brownbook: Musalsal

Brownbook nº59
Musalsal is a common term given to the tv soap operas, that air
during Ramadan in the Middle East and North African region.

For this issue, Brownbook profiled tv soap stars, and their cultural impact,
dubbing studios, costume designers and so on, to understand –
what does musalsal mean today?

The Agenda section deviated from the magazine's traditional two-column grid,
running instead with an oval framed image, and single column text,
for a "script" feel. Supplements included a photo essay of Duraid Lahham,
an Arabic booklet of Zubeida Tharwat, and in the architecture feature,
a documentary look at Basilica of Our Lady of Lebanon.
