From the start it was clear for me that I wanted to combine Illustration and lettering. Last year I started dipping my toes into vintage halftone like illustration when i got inspired by looking at Andrew Fairclough's work, and mixing it with the bit of calligraphy studies I've done for the last 3 years was the perfect excuse. I made the interlocked letters while looking at the book (The ABC of custom lettering) made by one of my teachers Ivan Castro, magazine covers and band albums from the 50's 60's.

I'm very excited for my first Threadless submission!

Inspiration
Here's a brief collage of the references and inspirations for the project, first and foremost the ABC of custom lettering by Ivan Castro where he explains the process in which he "interlocks" letters, and also one of his works on the far left, the rest are references that he mentions in his book, like the Surf album covers from 50's and 60's bands, Harry Chester's work in Famous Monster Magazine, and Ed Benguiat lettering work.
Process

For this one the process was like five days since I became aware about the project on #threadless. One of my newyearnewme kinda thing is to be able to put out projects faster, and not overthinking them too much.

That's all Folks!
