Life Cycle of a Butterfly

The final product was an animated, self-paced video that would be played in an online setting. Learners would be able to listen to the narration at their own pace, and replay anything that they wanted to hear. The bright background image was used to grab the intended audience's attention.
Before the project was complete, I added animations to each element. Seeing as this was my first time using Adobe Edge, I started with a simple animation in the first stage, but as I went along and watched tutorials, I was able to do a little more with the animation. I had the butterfly follow an animated path that was similar to how butterflies fly, kind of going up, down, and around.
During this stage, I added extra elements to help mirror my animation. The added leaf, branches, and flower made the animation more realistic and again, helped appeal to the younger audience. I used Illustrator to group most of the items together and to add the secondary elements to the life cycle.
This was the image I started with from Creative Commons. I used Photoshop using the Quick Selection tool to separate each stage, so that I could create a larger space for the design I had in mind. I decided against using the arrows, as I wanted to create my own and make them appear more animated to appeal to a younger audience.
