The king. The greatest human to ever set foot on a surfboard, and at 44 years old he's still mesmerising as ever. His ability to remain relevant over his (give-or-take) 25 year career is something to marvel at.

A couple of years ago, he made the bold move of leaving the security of his longtime sponsors to get involved with environmentally conscious surf brands. Got to respect someone who uses their influence to move an entire industry towards sustainable practices.

Enigmatic. Charismatic. Fascinating. No one on tour can articulate the minute details of a wave the way Kelly can, it's so far beyond what us regular humans can even imagine. 
Not sure who shot the original image, but they deserve a lot of the credit here. It's a great abstract shot, a unique way to capture a man that's been photographed a million different ways. The crosshatching on this one took around 12 hours, always with my trusty Zig Millennium markers on large forma Stillman & Birn Zeta paper.
