When I arrived at Saint Olaf, publications were still being produced the old-fashioned way—by casting off copy in manuscript, sending it out to be converted into type galleys, and pasting them up in layouts to be recreated by the printer.
By the time I left, the college had a fully networked Macintosh system and all publications were produced electronically. We also had won a Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) bronze medal for publication program improvement.
