“The Shift” – drawing (charcoal) , video, sound

In my work I try to explore the difference between our memories and real places and events that took place in the past.
I am interested mainly in this shift between the so-called reality and recollections that exists by its own rules.

I used Google Maps panoramic views of a familiar childhood place to examine closely the details and to capture the inconsistency between the imaginary past and fictional present.
Like a film taken with a long continuous shot or a Chinese scroll it urges a follower’s eye to travel along its surface. Irregular white voids act like a proposal for thought, like a hint for recognizing some personal code within these blank spaces.

These vacancies are meant to act as anamorphosis – the distorted image, which can only be seen properly from the right angle of perspective. Thus, some things, which we try to remember, can only be recovered from specific point of internal view.
