To understand some of the design decisions, the history of the park needs to be explained. The park was originally a palace with a formal garden layout, however over the time when more residents moved in, the park changed to an English landscape garden. The thight grids are derived from the historical formal layout. Everything between the grids is derived from the current English landscape garden, this is why the façades are very asymmetrical. The historical context related design reflects on the residents. Old and young come together and create a harmony and comfort for both. The pattern on the glazed facade is derived from the branches of the trees in the forest in an abstract way.
