The Texas Tech University Press hired me to design the cover for Sex as a Political Condition by Carlos Nicolas Flores. I worked very closely with the author to capture the essence of how he wanted to visually portray his novel. 

I wanted to express the raw emotion and Latin culture that Flores writes about. The typography derives from Mexican signage and vintage posters. I used black and red to symbolize the harshness that the protagonist survives throughout the story.
