Snowboard Company and Products

These are my final designs and some developmental work from my final major project of my BTEC in graphic design. I chose to create a snowboard company as it is a true passion of mine and I would really like to have a career in their industry. The work I have created here is; a logo design for the company, artwork for the snowboard, clothing designs and an advert for the snowboard.

The idea behind the designs came from 1950's horror movie posters, as I find they are visually stunning pieces of artwork. I felt these were good to replicate as they showed something horrible and weird and they would be a good contrast to the more stylish and modern designs for my logo.

This is the final design for the company logo. I spent a lot of time researching snowboarding and sports logos to gather information on how style and design were influenced by what the company sells or does. I also chose the name Splinter Snowboards because I felt it was a strong and punchy word which also had a link to something natural, which is what only a small portion of snowboard company names did.

The idea for the logo came from thinking about the name splinter, which to me meant a wooden splinter, that has stabbed itself into somewhere, which is what I tried to replicate with the two squares above the name. The colouring of two different shades of green is also a link back to it being a natural sport. I experimented with using the same colour for both shapes but I felt it made the design look whole rather than two seperate parts.
