This project was born as a series of illustrations to Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities". The main point of my attention was the difficult humans have to see their surroundings, to understand the meaning and the soul of the places they live in. What is the city for us? What is the relationship between us and constructions of dead material we surround ourselves with? Are we really able to see them? To understand the reason of their being? Do they need us? Or we build them just to became shadows shivering among them? Wondering about that I chose only two sections of Italo Calvino: "Cities and eyes" and "hidden cities". Putting them together I created this book keeping original text from "Invisible Cities" but giving my own structure and order.
