'Through the Encounters series, Maša Bajc documents instances of encounters. She carefully archives memories of the encounter, and transfers the atmosphere and emotions related to it through photographs. Such photographs – which are the only evidence that something happened at that place – are produced only after the encounter, and are fabricated according to the author’s memory. In the memory itself, the experience is romanticized and altered. Some encounters are merely the fruit of the author’s imagination, but through the photograph – the evidence – they become real, both to us as well as to the author herself; thus these pieces simultaneously become fictionalised documents and documents of fiction.'
