Stray Rescue of Saint Louis — LOVE T-Shirt Design (2017)
This is my first design that has been printed for Stray Rescue of Saint Louis' merchandise store. I created this design in the Fall of 2016 and noticed that the rescue had them in their store at the beginning of 2017 (it is quite possible they were printed and in the store before Christmas and I just did not happen to be in the store part of the rescue during that time).
The concept of this design is simple. I have seen many different renderings and parodies of the LOVE sculpture/font of pop artist Robert Indiana's before, anything from an American rock band album to shirt companies promoting geek life such as classic video gaming, a series of fantasy novels about the life of a young wizard written by British author, or a British science-fiction television programme, etc. Because of this I thought... 'People love dogs, people love Stray Rescue of Saint Louis' why not combine the two together to help promote a local animal rescue.
I actually submitted this design for them to use for next year's St. Louis PrideFest but was asked for the design earlier. This design works on many different color t-shirts. The first batch of this design sold out but they did use this design for St. Louis' PrideFest in June.
Here is a design I created, well here is a very overly used public domain image of Robert Indiana's LOVE sculpture reworked to promote a local animal rescue. The LOVE design is an iconic pop art image which I have seen rendered and parodied in many forms to advertise many different products, anything from an American rock band album to a British science-fiction television programme, etc.
