A conceptual design project done for sophomore year ID Principles class.

We were given a user scenario and the task of designing a clothes drying rack
that was suited to meet the needs of the user.
I began my ideation process by focusing on two spaces: the corner of a room and on top of a radiator
I settled on a design that could both sit on top of a radiator or windowsill, and stand on it's own in the middle of the room.
Initial models were made out of chipboard and foam-core along with string and wire
A final working model was made out of blue foam and wooden skewers
Solidworks was used to create a 3D model of the drying rack.
Detail shots show notches that allow for the rack to adjust to the users space needs.
