Here is an illustration work I've done a few years ago for 'Le Coin Récré', a toy design project composed of several interchangeable screens. We choosed a Circus theme for the prototype, to create a full playground for children to play Shop, Puppets, create shows and colouring... Materials used are mostly cardboard pieces to stick or clip, paper and no-woven paper. It makes the game easy to store and move, and allows children to entirely custom it agencing the elements or directly drawing on it.
I created two versions of the elements. A painted one, and a vector line art for coloring and customize. Some elements, like the food, money, tickets are laser cut items, so the children can grab these to play shop.
I usually prefer to work with vectors for such a big piece, but I choosed to paint over for a more sensitive approach. That adds qualitative and heartwarming details and textures and creates more polished finish.
