Kaffeine Café-Bistro (Greece)

Since time immemorial, humankind has been preoccupied by inventions, passionate about bringing novelty into the jaded routine of the everyday life. Inventions have given shape to the world we live in. Every day we benefit from the ideas and work of the great inventors. The café has been conceived in a way that to evoke a warm atmosphere with aristocratic and also bourgeois effluences.
It is the kind of café where bygone days inventors were gathering to meet each other and to present their daring inventions.
The prototype machines exhibited around the place have been designed so that to bring to mind famous inventors or science fiction writers of old times. For example, there are the Edison light bulbs, initially devised by the renowned inventor Thomas A. Edison, who used to say “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Displayed on the walls, there are 12 miniature inventions with hilarious features. Some of them are the fruit of our imagination as designers, intended to project the visitors into a fascinating world, where everything is possible.
The bar itself and the back of the bar, an assembly of cogwheels and chains, lights and gears, are devised like a laboratory of an alchemist who is about to find the most close to madness formulas. The front of the bar has the same concept as the pieces of furniture of the café with reference to the Industrial Revolution and steam-powered vehicles such as: trains, ships and airships.
The liquor shelves include chemistry lab glassware, small mechanisms, thermometers and manometers, resembling an old laboratory, designed in an industrial/ baroque style.
The “pièce de résistance” is the Solar System Planetarium placed on the ceiling, a symbol of the world and its perpetual motion. In the same way as planets orbit around the Sun, ideas flutter in the inventors’ minds, bringing to life wonderful works meant to make our life easier or more beautiful. At the same time, it is a symbol of the visionary character, as many scientists and inventors have drawn their inspiration from the infinity of the Universe.
The tables and chairs are crafted of metal and are specially created to be adjustable, with two positions for more comfort.
