LMS: Financial Aid Training 101

Financial Aid Training 101
Developing a Learning Management System relating to Financial Aid training from scratch was the central task of this project. The original scope of the project called for using assets previously created with the Masters degree program. However, at this stage in my development, I challenged myself to create an LMS on a topic central to my professional career and develop all assets within the month given to create the LMS. I used Canvas as the platform for my LMS.

The challenges of this project were time constraints as well as the detail required to develop the assets and information required to create an engaging platform. In addition, using a new product, Canvas, presented its own challenges such as ensuring that the student view was easy to navigate and understand.

Below is the Welcome video created to introduce learners to the LMS.
The screenshots below show the entire scope of each module created within the LMS. Each section provides an asset or assets the learner will utilize within the module, a discussion post, an activity, and an assessment.
Below is a screenshot of the student view of the LMS. It provides links to the assets at the top, and then below goes into each of the tasks, activities, and assessments that are associated with each module.
Below shows the Welcome page, which links to the Course Syllabus as well as the Welcome video shown above.
Here is a quick view of the Course Syllabus.
Below is the initial mapping of the LMS that was instrumental to my organization within the project. This was developed using MindNode.
One of the major assets of this project was a Financial Aid Manual. Some of the information was initially created in 2013 during my role as a Financial Aid Trainer. However, the information was updated to reflect this course and changes in regulations.
The next two images are previews of some of the pages of the manual. This is just a small sample of the manual. The current iteration of the manual is over 150 pages long.
