Os CACIQUE’97 são um colectivo de Afro-beat com origens Moçambicanas e Portuguesas, doze músicos experientes que integram diversas bandas nacionais de referência, em géneros musicais distintos.
A paixão pela música de Fela Kuti e Tony Allen uniu estes músicos com um objectivo comum: criar um colectivo que espelhasse a mistura de Lisboa, cruzando o Afro-beat, ritmo característico da Nigéria, com a tradição musical dos países lusófonos de África e do Brasil.
Os Cacique’97 pretendem dar origem a uma banda sonora global dos novos tempos sem perder o lado reivindicativo e de promoção da consciência social, característica do Afro-beat.

The CACIQUE'97 are a collective of Afro-beat with Mozambican and Portuguese origins, twelve experienced musicians that integrate several bands of reference, in distinct musical genres.
The Fela Kuti and Tony Allen´s passion for music joined these two musicians with a common goal: create a collective that mirrored the mixture of Lisbon, crossing the Afro-beat, rhythm characteristic of Nigeria, with the musical tradition of the Portuguese speaking countries in Africa and Brazil.
The Cacique'97 want to give rise to a soundtrack of global new times without losing the hand being drummed and promotion of social awareness, characteristic of Afro-beat.
