The course Making Of Design Principles provided students with techniques that encouraged us to inform our work through research and observation.
In Project One of the Making of Design Principles we observed Ink as it was dropped into water. The observations collected from our research were used to inform the structures we would create using elastic string and wood dowels.
I observed the ink as it submerges in hot water. As ink flows to the base of the jar the water creates a barrier that restricts the ink from continuing in a set direction. The ink then has to dispense in the only available directions. While the larger sum of the ink remains suspended close to the bottom of the base, the layers start to separate from the center.
