Salt-tolerance is a constant motif in my work, which relates to growing up on the water in Miami. My family are Sailors so at a young age I was forced to tolerate salt despite my insistence that I was allergic. Plants have always been something I identify with and am inspired by. So in this print I tried to capture the depth and complexity of a Tropical Coastal Forest.
Hand-made Booties with Silkscreened Coastal Print and a leather-stacked heel.
All fabric was hand-dyed and intentionally muddled to add the feeling of depth.
To create the feeling of light flickering on different leaves, I applied different shades of ink using a sponge brush.
